Terms of use
Last updated: 27 July 2026 · Effective: 27 July 2026
In plain terms: Stow is a tool for keeping track of your own belongings. Use it lawfully, your content stays yours, subscriptions are managed through your Apple account, and — because your data lives on your device and in your iCloud — keeping your own backups is on you.

1. Agreement to these terms
These terms are between you and Jeffrey Kiyomura (“we”, “us”) and apply when you download or use Stow. By using the app you accept them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your download; where it conflicts with these terms, the stricter protection for you as a consumer applies.
2. Your licence to use Stow
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Stow on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store rules. You may not copy, redistribute, sell, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
3. Your content
The locations, boxes, items, photos, and notes you create are yours. We claim no ownership over them and we do not receive a copy — they are stored on your device and, if enabled, in your own iCloud account. You are responsible for having the right to store the content you add, and for what you choose to share with others through iCloud sharing.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Stow to:
- store or share content that is unlawful, or that you have no right to possess;
- infringe anyone’s intellectual property or privacy rights;
- interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app, Apple’s services, or the services of our providers;
- circumvent purchase, licensing, or advertising controls in the app.
5. Stow Plus, purchases, and renewals
- One-time purchase. Where offered, a one-time purchase unlocks the included features for the Apple account that bought it, with no recurring charge.
- Subscription. Where offered, a subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the period.
- Managing and cancelling. Manage or cancel at any time in iOS Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Free trials. If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you buy a subscription, where Apple’s rules require that.
- Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple under their policies. We cannot issue refunds directly, but tell us if something is wrong and we’ll try to help.
- Prices. Prices are shown in the app and may vary by region and change over time. Changes never apply retroactively to a completed one-time purchase.
6. Advertising in the free version
The free version is supported by third-party advertising, and some optional features may be unlocked temporarily by watching an ad. Ads are supplied by third parties and we do not control or endorse their content. Purchasing Stow Plus removes ads. See the privacy policy for what advertising involves.
7. Availability and changes
We may add, change, or remove features, and we may stop supporting older versions of iOS or of the app. Features that depend on Apple’s services (such as iCloud sync and sharing) or on third-party services may be unavailable at times for reasons outside our control.
8. Backups and data loss
Because your inventory lives on your device and in your iCloud account, keeping backups is your responsibility — iCloud Backup or a computer backup both work. We are not able to recover data for you, and we are not liable for data lost through device failure, deletion, iCloud problems, or app removal. Exporting a PDF manifest of important boxes is a good habit.
9. Records for donations, tax, and insurance
Stow can produce itemized manifests and exports that people often use for donation receipts, tax records, insurance inventories, or moving. Those documents are generated from the information you enter. We do not verify quantities, condition, ownership, or value, and nothing in the app is tax, legal, insurance, or valuation advice. You are responsible for the accuracy of anything you submit to a third party.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
Stow is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will always find, sync, or display your data correctly. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and nothing here limits your statutory consumer rights.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or the cost of substitute services, arising from your use of Stow. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.
12. Termination
You may stop using Stow at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or terminate your licence if you materially breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — continue to apply.
13. Apple as a third-party beneficiary
These terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for Stow or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing third-party claims relating to the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California will have exclusive jurisdiction — except where the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally.
